The Sun Devils are coming off a disastrous 2008 campaign where a six game losing streak in the middle of the season doomed them to watching the bowl season from home. This year, ASU again as a daunting stretch beginning Oct. 24 at Stanford. It will be a pivotal game as a loss could touch off another long losing streak with games against Cal, USC and Oregon immediately to follow.

The season starts against a couple of patsies before ASU travels to Athens, GA for the second of a home and home series with the Georgia Bulldogs. Last year, Georgia overwhelmed the Sun devils winning 27-10. Arizona State would like to exact some revenge and get some early momentum going.

The home schedule in conference play is favorable with Oregon State, Cal and USC all coming to Tempe. The key road game takes place at Oregon. The Sun Devils have lost 4 in a row to the Ducks.

ASU looks like a border-line bowl team this season and will need to do more than just beat the bottom half teams.
