Happy ‘06 and goodbye Boobapalooza!

Posted By: Nick, Off The Pond under Not Sports  | January 4, 2006

Well, for the few who I got to see for the self-proclaimed Boobapalooza this past week, thanks for stopping by. It was a damn good time and hopefully, next year, we can take the party north a couple hours to the Rose Bowl. Cheers to all. Steve, you’ve left me depleted an in much need of a break. The game was a blast. I rarely drink for a game as I hate not being “all there” for such events, but I made an exception, and rightfully so as it eased the pain of a difficult loss. I really didn’t think Oklahoma would pass as well as they did and, though Adrian Peterson didn’t dominate, the work he did in the third quarter was the difference in the game. Still, Oregon had a shot and it made for a thrilling finish. In my attempts to capture the excitement for all of eternity, I ended up with this gem that happens to be the play that Brady Leaf was intercepted. The zoomed in copy shows the interception a little better. If I have to relive it, so do you. Well, there’s always next year in a revenge game when Oklahoma visits Autzen Stadium.

Now, it’s time to turn our attention to the Rose Bowl which has been renamed the Harold Miner Bowl due to the fact it has become the most overhyped game in the history of sports. Even if it’s a good game, there is no way it can live up to everything being reported. Reggie Bush would need 300 yards rushing while actually breaking the ankles of every Texas defender for me to be remotely satisfied by the results. Speaking of the newest Houston Texan, check out his now-legendary high school tape. I saw this about a month ago and noticed that ESPN picked it up today. Having been a huge Barry Sanders fan, I look forward to watching this guy in the NFL. Simply amazing.

Happy 2006 to you. Hopefully you’ve set your resolutions in place and will have failed by February. Besides the obvious of getting a job, my biggest goal is to improve my fitness level with better eating and more exercising. I know, that’s the same as everyone else, but 60% of the time, it works every time.
