So much drama in the C-F-B. It’s kinda’ hard bein’ this here blog O-T-P. But I somehow, some way, keep comin’ up with funky ass links like every single day.
*Yep, that just happened.
- Saturday, they play football games. Sunday through Friday, it’s drama baby! In the latest episode of “As Cam Newton Turns,” ESPN’s Joe Schad reports that both Newton and his dad Cecil admitted to a pay-for-play plan in separate phone conversations with Mississippi State recruiters. Commence with the opinions!
- And of course the FBI is now involved. It is the SEC after all. Who reported that? Oh, just TMZ which was looking for a story after losing track of Lindsay Lohan.
- For his part, Urban Meyer is denying he had any role in the leaking of Newton’s University of Florida academic record. So he’s clean. <—where’s the sarcasm font when you need it?
- Don’t think we can’t keep a good hullabaloo* going over here on the west coast. Being Scott Woodward has to feel pretty small as he has been publicly undressed by Washington interim president Phyllis Wise for his comments about Oregon’s academic standards. He’ll have to make some personal apologies because his first attempt was, well, pathetic. I’m sure it’ll be completely genuine. <—damn, seriously, why isn’t there a universal font for sarcasm?
*Rob Moseley calls it a kerfuffle, Ken Goe says it’s a brouhaha and OTP is going with hullabaloo.
Still need more drama? Oh, it’s there. Just look at these headlines.
- Quarterback stealing teammate’s Heisman! Rob Moseley wonders if Darron Thomas could steal some votes from LaMichael James.
- Television Conspires to Black Out Duck Basketball! Oregon basketball has a total of six games on its schedule that can be watched outside the Northwest. If you want to see year one of Dana Altman and friends, move to Oregon and get Comcast.
- Ducks viciously attack hallowed USC record! Oregon is on pace to shatter the Trojans Pac-10 scoring record. The national mark is within reach, too.
- Nate Costa blames injury on…uh…on what? No drama with Costa. He handles his latest setback with all the dignity one has come to expect from the senior quarterback. It’s a cruel world sometimes. The blog says, “Good luck Nate!”
- Sports Illustrated jinxing Ducks! LaMichael James shares the magazine cover this week with two others. You can relax. Cam Newton is front and center and if there is anyone headed for a jinx, it’s him.
- UO Says, “Can’t Sell Your Gear Here!” The UO is cracking down on unlicensed merchandise. The boss always gets paid, people.
