All Pac-10 teams find themselves ailing in some manner. Yes, even you, Oregon. In this week’s “Ranking the Pac-10,” Dr. OTP has the diagnosis and prescription for future success.

I am aware this is a day later than usual, but when it comes to the health of every team, I take no shortcuts.

1. Oregon Ducks.
Symptoms: Tries too hard to be perfect. Freaks out when it gets a B+. Possible burnout victim.

Diagnosis: Bcsiasis

Prescription: Two teaspoons of Juswinamovon. Recommended dosage is one teaspoon on Nov. 26, one more on Dec. 4.

2. Stanford Cardinal.
Symptoms: Shows excessive levels of rage. Often bullies others beyond the point of acceptance. Needs a parental figure to tell them no, but few are willing or able.

Diagnosis: Harbaughcos

Prescription: Best to let this one play out naturally. Time should heal the issue, letting the Harbaughcos find an NFL host to infect.

3. Oregon State Beavers.
Symptoms: Lets the company it keeps affect its behavior. Patient knows better, but refuses wins when it should absolutely take them.

Diagnosis: Rejective Winning Syndrome

Prescription: Apply Badlosses Begone cream directly to record. If the medication doesn’t take, wait one year and try again.

4. USC Trojans.
Symptoms: Suffered third degree burns over the summer. Healing has been slow, showing signs of extreme paranoia.

Diagnosis: Ncaaphobia

Prescription: Unfortunately, they’ll need to stay on their regular medication of Probationetin for another two years.

5. Arizona Wildcats.
Symptoms: Easily influenced by simple setbacks which tends to cause a snowball effect creating larger problems that ultimately result in no Rose Bowl. Coaching is generally good, but perhaps comes with a ceiling.

Diagnosis: Stoopsinson Disease

Prescription: Needs to seriously consider going on experimental drug called Noletupen. To be safe, should be taken prior to every game and especially after losses.

6. Cal Bears.
Symptoms: Not getting enough exercise, prone to cramping. Easily contracts illness outside of Berkeley. When things not going well, shows tendency to shut down.

Diagnosis: Fakeria

Prescription: Hydration levels are satisfactory. To avoid cramping, ignore coaches. To stave off illness, take two pills of Focusin whenever on the road.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils.
Symptoms: Doesn’t perform the simple tasks. Has been seen missing extra points which leads to excessive losing. Showing early signs of coach doubting.

Diagnosis: Kickerthelioma

Prescription: One injection of Extra Pointicide. Also, begin taking precautionary dosage of Bellotioxi for future health.

8. Washington Huskies.
Symptoms: Losing teeth leading to alarming lack of bite. Most Sark-led attacks inflict great damage to victims. It is concerning that most prey are able to fight back and overwhelm their attacker.

Diagnosis: non-Heisman Lockerphoma

Prescription: Need more “we’re back” in the bloodstream, take a capsule of Triagin Nexyear.

9. UCLA Bruins.
Symptoms: Diet severely lacking in daily recommended consumption of passing yardage. Emits an offensive odor which can also be written as “offense stinks.”

Diagnosis: Lackaquarterbackisis, oncoming case of badcoachical

Prescription: Add a daily vitamin called Recruitmobettuh

10. Washington State Cougars.
Symptoms: Normal behavior shows dejection, lack of ability. Lately, overcome with strong sense of confidence.

Diagnosis: Looks like they stopped taking their meds.

Prescription: Behavior is what we want to see. We recommend ceasing dependence on Losermax pills. Should continue to monitor behavior.

Curiosity always surrounds the activity of our slumbering minds and it’s wise to do a little dream analysis from time to time. Fortunately, the blog is an unlicensed and uneducated dream interpreter. In this week’s edition of Ranking the Pac-10, I put those (un)skills to use for each team.

1. Oregon Ducks: “Home Bears! No! Nononono! Stop Home Bears! Stop Home Bears! Make it stop!”

OTP Dream Analyzer: It’s okay, the blog’s right here. It’s all over now. It’s aaaallll over.

2. Stanford Cardinal: “OTP, we’re concerned about the dream one of our running backs had last week. His name’s Anthony Wilkerson. He said in his dream a mobster told home it would be wise to win by no more than 4.5 points.

Normally, we could give a damn about a player’s dreams, but did you see what Anthony did at the end of the game Saturday? Did something really bad just happen here?”

OTP Dream Analyzer: Uh. Oh. I saw him sit down instead of running into the end zone so he could run out the clock. You guys were up four so it preserved the win, but I see what you’re saying here. 4+6=MORE THAN 4.5. Listen, I’d love to help, but I’m afraid to go there. Stanford probably has some good lawyers. I’ll be happy to refer you out to someone else.

3. USC Trojans: “We keep rapping our own version of that song called Juicy by Notorious B.I.G. What do you think?”

It was all a dream
We used to be the number one team
Will Ferrell, Snoop D oh Double G, up in the limousine
Hangin’ pictures in the Hall
Every Saturday, Pass Attack, Mr. Bush, Pete Carroll (CARE-ALL)
We let our game rock til our program popped
Smokin’ teams and dreams, steppin’ on your private jock
We blew up then lost all the fame
Call the Pac, same name, faded game
It’s all lame

Uh, and if you don’t know, now you know, sucka’, uh

OTP Dream Analyzer: You’re dream starts with the words “It was all a dream?” Hmm, heavy stuff. I think the reference here is the 2005 season. I checked, though, and none of what you are describing happened. I couldn’t find a picture of Reggie Bush hanging in Heritage Hall. Pete Carroll doesn’t even exist there. You say you were the number one team? These NCAA records say you didn’t even play a game that year. That’s a wacky dream.

4. Arizona Wildcats: “We keep closing our eyes and this little rose just floats in the darkness from left to right. It never leaves but it keeps floating back and forth. It’s distracting.”

OTP Dream Analyzer: So this is like a pre-dream with your eyes shut, but not quite asleep? I think it represents a specific bowl game that is always within your immediate consciousness, but not exactly meant to be understood or attained. Kinda’ one of those look but don’t touch things.

5. Cal Bears: “zzzzzzzz….zzzzzzzz….zzzzzzzzz”

OTP Dream Analyzer: Quiet, everyone! Cal’s still sleeping and they are absolutely, positively about to beat Oreg—ah, Chip! Why’d you go and wake them? You’re such a jerk!

Since you’re up Cal, do you still want the blog’s dream analysis? Go “WHAT?” myself? How dare you!

6. Arizona State Sun Devils: “We keep seeing this parked bus. We run really fast to catch it but every time we get to it, it leaves the station. We’re trying really hard and it’s so close! Aahhh, it’s so frustrating!”

OTP Dream Analyzer: Ah, yes. Very common theme here and an easy case to crack. If you want it to go away, win a close game. The easiest solution would be to make an extra point.

7. UCLA Bruins: “Please, help. We keep taking a test over and over again. It’s the same type of examination, but the subject varies from week to week and we just seem to have a lot of trouble finishing it. Sometimes, we can’t find the room to take the test. Other times, we forget a #2 pencil or we have one and it breaks halfway through. A lot of the time, though, we just feel really unprepared. Mind you, there are those times where the dream goes perfectly, but they just feel too few and far between.”

OTP Dream Analyzer: Really, you don’t see what’s going on here? Let me lay it out for you. Not being able to find the room is your fan apathy. The #2 pencil is the quarterback. Feeling unprepared is the coaching. You need to fix all of that or else the dream will never end.

8. Washington Huskies: “This is embarrassing to talk about. See, for the past decade or so, we keep dreaming that our entire team is playing naked. You don’t have to tell us what that means. We know it has a lot to do with feelings of embarassment and shame. The prob–”

OTP Dream Analyzer: I’m sorry to cut you off, I really am, but you need to snap the hell out of it. That’s not a dream. That really happens every damn Saturday! It’s gross and, frankly, I’m a little shocked you’ve let it go on this long.

9. Washington State Cougars: “We’ve been having the same freaking nightmare for two years. TWO EFFING YEARS, OTP!!! Do you know the kind of torture that has been? Still, after awhile, you come to rely on it. But the last two nights, nothing. Two years and then nothing? What happened?”

OTP Dream Analyzer: You won a Pac-10 game!

10. Oregon State Beavers: “For like the past three or four weeks, we’re having that falling to the ground dream. Everyone has it, right? We kinda’ get it, but is it a big deal?”

OTP Dream Analyzer: I’m not surprised, OSU. We often have this dream when we are feeling overwhelmed in life and ready to give up. The problem here – and I think we’re past being gentle so I’m just going to be blunt - the problem here is that you didn’t deal with a major problem in real life and everything’s out of control. Do a hard analysis and fix it. I’d suggest starting with the defense. And check that offensive line, too. Perhaps spend a minute on a few coaching decisions. I have a lot of confidence in this analysis so this one’s pro bono. Good luck.

The blog needs to focus on the positive to get through this week. Having to redo 80% of this post because of a crappy internet connection? Opportunity to do something even better the second time!

Same goes for this week’s Pac-10 Power Rankings. Happiness abounds! Losing is giving. Fumbling is sharing. Tackling is hugging.

The blog can put a shine on even the worst of circumstances.

1. Oregon Ducks. A 53-16 win over Washington is TERRIBLE! Worst performance of the year. Another one like it will cost the Ducks a national title shot.

Whoops, it appears when you try to shine up perfection, it only creates a negative. We should have better luck with the remaining teams.

2. Stanford Cardinal. Being No. 6 in the BCS and potentially getting left out isn’t a bad thing. It’s a chance to be tourists in San Antonio. There’s The Alamo, a nice river area and some other stuff, too. You’ll have a great time!

(By “you,” I mean the five Stanford fans that will travel.)

3. Arizona Wildcats. What do you want me to say Arizona? Losing hurts. I can’t sugarcoat that, but it is time to buck up because the Rose Bowl is still possible! Here’s how:

Oregon loses to Cal and Arizona

Stanford loses to Cal and Oregon State

Arizona wins out

Wildcats at 7-2 have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Oregon at 7-2.

4. USC Trojans. Losing the bowl game to Oregon hurt. But the good news, SC, is you can just pick again. The next three games are all in primetime on ABC. They can all be a bowl game! And even if that fails, there’s still UCLA.

5. Oregon State Beavers. What’s with all the hand-wringing and frustration in Corvallis? At 4-4, OSU is right on pace for it’s usual four or five loss season. It’s been that way for the last nine years. 2010 is right on track!

6. Cal Bears. I can see why Cal fans are a little upset. All those blowout losses on the road reduced this season to a mediocre adventure. But the losing is over. The last three games are all at home where the Bears are 4-0 and outscoring opponents 189-30*. Should be fun!

*Oh, but the blog will be in person on Saturday. So far, it’s winning 69-0 this year when attending. Didn’t want to be negative, but something has to give and I thought Cal should know.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. ASU is 98% 6-3 right now. The problem is that the additional 2% has heavily influenced the actual record and made the team 4-5. You wouldn’t think two extra points can have that impact, but they did.

Still ASU, do you know how many teams would kill for the chance to be 98% 6-3 and bowl eligible? Texas, for one.

8. UCLA Bruins. I think we can all agree anytime Rick Neuheisel doesn’t have to get on the microphone after a game and apologize to the home fans, it’s a positive for everyone.

9. Washington Huskies. I was looking at the Huskies record and the loss to Oregon and thinking ‘how do I put sunshine on this thing?’ Then it hit me. Husky players already did!

“We were on the sideline and they were telling us ‘Good job’ …They were complimenting us on the sidelines.” -linebacker Cort Dennison

“No, they are not that much better. We just need to trade our field goals for touchdowns and just concentrate on our assignments and not try to do too much. Quite frankly, the game should have been closer than it was, but it doesn’t always go in your favor.” -running back Chris Polk

10. Washington State Cougars. You know how some people don’t need stuff to be happy? For instance, this Canadian couple gave away over $11 million in lottery winnings.

The Cougars are like that, always donating their wins to the bowl eligibility cause of its Pac-10 brethren.

And for that, we salute the selfless charity of Washington State.

Let it be known, a dynasty was officially laid to rest on Saturday. It was for the best having slipped in and out of consciousness for a year now. Honestly, it just needed to happen.

1. Oregon Ducks. Is there a law of diminishing returns that can be applied to the Oregon offense? At some point, you just can’t achieve anymore yards and points, right?

2. Stanford Cardinal. Many have said the Pac-10 might have the best conference top to bottom. But do they really believe it? There are six one-loss teams ahead of Stanford in the BCS standings. That’s not right.

3. Arizona Wildcats. The same can be said of Arizona who even has a win over Iowa but only recently jumped the Hawkeyes. The winner of Stanford-Arizona this weekend should make a big jump.

4. Oregon State Beavers. You can project the Beavers to enter its final two games against Stanford and Oregon on a four game winning streak sitting at 6-1 in the Pac-10 and ranked in the top 15-20. The seemingly impossible resurrection is again in progress.

5. USC Trojans. You cursed brat! Look what you’ve done! I’m melting! melting! Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would have thought a good little school like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness? Oooooh, look out! I’m going! Oooooh! Ooooooh!

6. Cal Bears. This is the worst type of team to follow as a fan. With Washington State, they’re bad enough that you get used to living without them. With Oregon, they’re good enough to always leave you happy. But Cal… good enough to piss you off that they’re not always that good.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. And I thought Washington State could beat the Sun Devils. Glad to know ASU is still going to fight for bowl eligibility.

8. UCLA Bruins. It’s surprising that Arizona didn’t just torch what was left of the UCLA corpse Oregon delivered the Wildcats. In that respect, one can see Rick Neuheisel still has control of the team, still has something moving forward. I know it ain’t much, but like ASU, just take the positive where you can find it.

9. Washington Huskies. Roll over. Ok, now sit. Lay down. Play dead. Hello? Washington? You can get up now. You want your treat? Ah hell, the Dawg’s dead.

10. Washington State Cougars. Thanks Cougs. I put myself out there for you. I put a stellar record on the line in your name. My fault? Yeah, probably so, but someone believed in you! Never again.

This whole “ranking the Pac-10″ thing is starting to seem pointless given that Oregon should have the Rose Bowl clinched in about two weeks. I guess I do it for the rest of the conference.

Sniff, sniff…mmm, that’s the delicious aroma of arrogance wafting through the afternoon air.

Just gotta' hold it for six games, people. Six long, excruciating weeks of football.

1. Oregon Ducks. I’ve only hyperventilated like six times since the Ducks rose to the top of the human polls. I find paper bags to be overrated. All I do is blow holes right through them.

Ok, the arrogance in the opening paragraph was fake. I’m scared shitless right now.

2. Stanford Cardinal. Stanford doesn’t have the benefit of Mad Hatter magic, but it should be noted that the Cardinal’s current BCS ranking of 12 is where LSU started in 2007 before making and winning the BCS title game.

More likely, though, is a Rose Bowl with Oregon playing in Glendale. Oh wait, Boise gets that slot. Ah, BCS.

3. Arizona Wildcats. We’re getting closer to what feels like a true top three in this conference. USC appears to have some fight left and you never know with OSU, but my bet’s on these three.

4. USC Trojans. That was urine running down my leg when USC beat Cal 48-14. With what’s at stake, every small thing affects me in disproportionate ways.

5. Washington Huskies. Heisman! Yes! Five touchdowns, he passes, he runs, he is JAKE LOCKER!! Those three turnovers totally don’t matter. On a serious note, Washington looks like Oregon’s least difficult game remaining. Until I let the next week of games wildly swing my opinion.

6. Oregon State Beavers. I’m still surprised OSU lost to Washington. Ryan Katz just seemed to fall apart and I don’t think that was a James Rodgers issue. Nonetheless, I’m satisfied. Losing by 1 while getting a point and a half on the cover is a win in my book.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. I like ASU to get six wins, but seven could be tough and that’s what they need for bowl eligibility due to having played two FCS teams this season.

8. Cal Bears/UCLA Bruins. I figured out how Cal’s athletic department can save money. Just have the UC system fold these two football departments together and run one operation. They’re already the same thing, able to win or lose by 50 on any given weekend.

10. Washington State Cougars. Without a doubt, the Cougars are getting better. They just played two tough games against ranked opponents. They might get a win. They also might not, but that wouldn’t mean it’s not getting better. And rather than going back and redoing those sentences, I’m just going to celebrate my ability to start each of them with the word “they.”

This is a strange conference. I know who’s best, but after that? Not a clue.

Little administrative blog note: Didn’t get a chance to review WSU game on the blog and will be mostly dark here until I return home late Tuesday. I did get to sneak in much of the game thanks to a feed on justin.tv as we did our best to stay glued to the laptop in the face of wedding festivities.

I don't know. Perhaps it was a little early to go packing those national championship bags.

1. Oregon Ducks. My credit card is littered with canceled charges in and around Glendale, AZ for an early January trip. Think I’ll just wait and see.

2. Stanford Cardinal. Stanford’s taking a deep breath. Now, they get a bye followed by Washington State. Things are looking good in Palo Alto heading into November.

3. Oregon State Beavers. I’m feeling so smart about the Beavers this year. But there’s no reason to pat myself on the back. All I did was use historical data (October) to predict a future outcome (win).

4. Arizona Wildcats. Nothing to say about the Wildcats other than the Pac-10′s new TV agreement needs to include TV channels I can get in a hotel room. Sorry Versus.

5. Cal Bears. This week, fifth best. Next week, ninth. After that, second. How the eff do I know anymore? Cal, what are you?

6. USC Trojans. I saw a note on Twitter about the fine line of winning and losing. In the last two weeks, LSU eked out two last-second wins while USC lost twice under similar circumstances. In other words, not a lot of difference between 6-0 and 4-2. Either way, USC just doesn’t look like a good team.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. Your fun fact for the day. With ASU’s win over Washington, only Virgina, Duke and Washington State are winless against FBS competition. That assumes UW still merits consideration as a Football Bowl Subdivision team given that, you know, they don’t play in bowls.

8. Washington Huskies. I guess I should have to explain how USC is ahead of Washington, but does head-to-head really matter between teams that lose this much? Not really. Huskies look like a lower-tier team. Year 32 of “we’re back” marches on.

9. UCLA Bruins. See note on Cal. Same deal.

10. Washington State Cougars. For the first time in four years, I actually think Washington State might win a Pac-10 game. I don’t know when or against who, but if they can stay within 20 of Oregon, surely they can beat Washington, right? Right?

Oregon asserts itself as a clear leader of the Pac...and national contender.

Any questions nation? Oh. Yeah, the defense…that’s just this little thing we do in the first half. You now how a cat kinda’ plays with its prey a little before devouring it? That’s all that is.

The only way you are watching Oregon-WSU this week is if you can find Pullman on a map and make the drive. It's on there, I swear. You just have to look really hard.

1. Oregon Ducks. I found Ninkasi’s Total Domination IPA here in San Diego. Bought that up for the Stanford game. Safe to say I’ll never go another Saturday without it.

2. Stanford Cardinal. Just because you lose to a better team doesn’t mean you stopped being second best. Looking forward to seeing these guys against Arizona and Oregon State. USC is toast next week.

3. Arizona Wildcats. Looking at the schedule, this looks like “Next Man Up” to challenge Oregon. But there’s like these five other games first so we should probably still play those.

4. Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers go on the road to Arizona this week. Seeing that the Wildcats are now ninth in the AP Poll, OSU will have played three top ten opponents in its first five games. All of them on the road. That’s insane. Maybe they’re good, maybe not. If they’d just win one of these, it would be a lot easier to tell.

5. UCLA Bruins. Who knew the difference between beating Texas on the road and losing to Washington State at home was Kevin Prince. What? UCLA won 42-28? I don’t know who you’re trying to kid, but that score against Wazzu is a loss. End of story.

6. USC Trojans. F—ing Washington! Let’s say someone does this wacky 12 team parlay every week. Let’s also say its a little $2 bet that can pay hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. And let’s say on this particular weekend, it was going to pay $176. Now imagine the first 11 are all winners including one SEC game that was a loss until the refs did some math. Picture in the 12th game, the team picked to win is ahead with a couple minutes left. Now imagine that team loses on a last second field goal. Yep, eff you Washington.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. Three losses now by a total of 15 points. Best 2-3 team in the country. So they got that going for them.

8. Washington Huskies. Like I said, screw you Washington.

9. Cal Bears. Not much to report here on the heels of a bye week. Not exactly sure you can justify them any higher than this.

10. Washington State Cougars. Let me sum up the current state of Washington State football. They have chosen to NOT allow Saturday’s game with Oregon to be televised. In other words, the product is so bad, they don’t want people to see it.

Oregon is still number 1, but some contenders are clearly emerging as conference play heats up.

Washington and Cal, go make friends with Washington State and UCLA. You won’t be needed anymore. As for the rest of you, good stuff so far.

Ah, Glendale, can't wait.... aahhhh! Snap out of it. Must...wait...until...we beat a team with a pulse to dream like this.

1. Oregon Ducks. Finally, Oregon gets to play those other nine dwarves… d’oh, that’s the second time I’ve done that. Sorry guys, it’s just this complex you get up here. You wouldn’t understand. Well, USC, I can see you down there. You know what I’m talking about, right?

2. Arizona Wildcats. No bottles thrown. Check. Fans waited until 0:00 to celebrate. Check. Use of index finger to state “we’re number 1″… ooh, sorry. Close, but the middle finger is incorrect. Fail.

3. Stanford Cardinal. You gotta’ hand it to Jim Harbaugh. He is not boring. In his defense, a team should have at least 70 points before choosing to forgo useless challenges.

4. USC Trojans. Based on linear data accrued since USC’s original AP ranking of number 14, I have created a mathematical formula that projects where the Trojans will rank given a specific number of wins.

14 + 2x = y

To determine the ranking, solve for y where x = number of wins

If we carry out the formula on an undefeated season, we can know that USC will finish ranked 42nd in the country.

14 + (2 * 14) = 42

5. Oregon State Beavers. Sorry, Beavs. Dropped you a spot as USC at 3-0 with two road wins, however underwhelming, is better than 1-1. It just is. Now, do us all a HUGE favor and beat Boise State.

6. Arizona State Sun Devils. ASU joins the Beavers in the “good loss, but can you beat anyone” category. Both teams get another shot on Saturday.

7. UCLA Bruins. UCLA is really good when an opponent loses its Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback (re: Dennis Dixon, circa 2007). Technically, the Bruins were already up 21-3 when Case Keenum was injured but that doesn’t account for the fact Keenum was going to throw for 559 yards and 6 touchdowns in the second half. Got lucky, Bruins.

8. Washington State. I’m not usually into symbolic rankings, but Cal and Washington were so embarrassing, you have no choice but to elevate the Cougars for only losing by 14 on the road. This is as good as it’s going to get this season for Wazzu so, uh, party on?

9. Cal Bears. Let me guess, 8-4 with some disturbingly bad losses against good teams. Sound about right?

10. Washington Huskies. I no longer take any joy in mocking Jake Locker, mostly because all the people declaring him some sort of purple savior before are now torching him as if Locker was ever anything but the quarterback we saw on Saturday.

That’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout Pac-10! A 7-0 weekend in non-conference games and five ranked teams. This conference is for real… until next Saturday anyway.

Couldn't have done it better myself, coach!

1. Oregon Ducks. Chip Kelly coaches football like he’s playing the PS3. Takes three seconds to call a play, uses time outs to get the ball back even if it only gives him 10 seconds and just never stops scoring points. Oh, and he’s doing it on the Varsity setting making everyone look silly.

2. Arizona Wildcats. If Pac-10 teams were a stock, I’d like to buy Arizona. It’s just two wins over patsy teams, but I got a feeling about this Stoops bunch.

3. Stanford Cardinal. There’s nothing really separating Arizona and Stanford right now. This is just a subjective placement that means absolutely nothing. But the rest of these rankings? Meaningful and spot on.

4. Oregon State Beavers. It’s kind of generous putting an 0-1 team here but if the AP voters can reinsert OSU into the top 25, then surely there is room at #4 in my prestigious weekly power rankings. Besides, it makes a lot more sense than anything Jon Wilner did on his AP ballot. No, I’m not linking to that garbage.

5. Cal Bears. Settle down. We’ve been through this before. I don’t know when and I don’t know to who, but you’re going to trip somewhere, Cal. Or did I just describe Oregon?

6. USC Trojans. Lane Kiffin is right on schedule with making the team he coaches worse than it was before he got there. Should be in line for a promotion soon.

7. Washington Huskies. Jake Locker’s Heisman campaign is back on track and the blog’s streak for consecutive posts mentioning the QB is intact at 3,548 straight.

8. Arizona State Sun Devils. Dennis Erickson was apparently irate at the performance of his team against Northern Arizona. I don’t get the big deal. The Sun Devils are 2-0 in the Big Sky and poised to win the conference in their first year of play. And yeah, that joke will continue to get made until I’m bored with it.

9. UCLA Bruins. Mike Bellotti could have his choice of UCLA, Arizona State and Washington State by season’s end. Just sayin’…

10. Washington State. Every week, I copy and paste last week’s rankings in a new post and then change the teams around. Number 10 never changes. Well, except for the weeks I have to delete “State.”

1. Oregon Ducks. I once was on a basketball team that was up 46-1 at halftime. I used to think that was a beating. Then Saturday happened.

2. Arizona Wildcats. If we were to make judgments about the whole season based on one week of play, we’d all be very interested in Arizona @ Oregon on Nov. 26.

3. USC Trojans. Only Washington State gave up more points on opening weekend and the Cougars pretty much give up the most points every week. So there you go, your 2010 Trojans, where the defense is better than Washington State.

4. Oregon State Beavers. The loss to TCU isn’t the end of the world. In fact, it’s basically business as usual in Corvallis. But still, it’s disappointing. OSU needs to start winning some of these games.

5. Stanford Cardinal. Not much to take from a game against Sacramento State. In fact, I got nothing.

6. Cal Bears. Not much to take from a game against UC Davis. In fact, I got nothing.

7. Arizona State Sun Devils. Not much to take from a game against Portland State. In fact, I got nothing. Whew, wearing out the copy and paste function here, people.

8. Washington Huskies. Here, I found a song for all you media types who keep shoving Jake Locker down our throats. Skip to 1:07 on the video. 54% completion percentage and another loss. These are the facts.

9. UCLA Bruins. Bad quarterbacking, bad defense and the schedule only gets harder. The rest of the month goes Stanford, Houston, @ Texas. Ouch.

10. Washington State. This was the most disappointing performance of the weekend with apologies to UW, OSU and UCLA. The Cougars looked as bad as ever and you have to question if Paul Wulff is making any progress. No wait, you don’t have to question that. It’s obvious that he’s not.
